Fake Doner Kebab

Just a quick run down of my second attempt at fake doner kebab / low fat take away.

If you fancy a bit of Kebab, but don't want the guilt then how about this easy 'fakeaway'.

I used 400g of 20% Lamb mince.
1 egg
Then a pre-prepared spice mix which is easy to make:
2 tsp Garlic Granules
1 tsp Paprika
1 tsp Oregano
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Pepper (ground)
1 tsp Chilli powder
Throw it all in a bowl and mix well. Leave in the fridge overnight if you can.

Then mould into a rough loaf shape.

Cook indirect over coals for approx 20-30 mins and regularly check internal temperature with a probe. (I took mine to 165⁰f)

Then let it stand to cool for around 10 mins before slicing thin.

The flatbread/pitta is basically pizza dough (homemade or shop bought is equally good)
Roll out and cook direct over hot coals.

Then load your kebab with shredded salad, red onion, tomatoes and Jalapeños. A good smothering of chilli, sweet chilli or my favourite - sriracha mayo.

Then tuck in and enjoy, (and don't mention the chips on the side 😉 - they are garnish).
